Princess Diana was known for her grace and charm, and was bestowed the title of the 'Rose of England'. She was sadly taken away by controversial circumstances that led to her untimely death. Diana Frances Spencer was born on July 1st, 1961 in Sandringham, Norfolk England. She finished school at the Institut Alpin Videmanette in Switzerland, where she then became a kindergarten teacher in Young England School after moving to London.

She was named Lady Diana Spencer after her father was given the title of 8th Earl Spencer in the year 1975. She was the youngest of five siblings, Sara, Jane, John and Charles.

Prince Charles of Wales who was 13 years older than Princess Diana, proposed marriage on 6th February 1981 (which was hush-hush until it was made official later), where they were engaged on the 24th of the same month and then wedded on July 29th, 1981.

She was seen as a woman who didn't go by the conventions of being a Princess, often doing things her way. She immersed herself in a lot of charity work, and showed great support for the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, which won the Nobel Peace Prize a little after her death in 1997.

She had a heart of gold and one that encompassed compassion for those who were suffering from disease and harsh times. She fought against the discrimination towards people with AIDS and leprosy, setting an example to those who looked down upon the victims of these illnesses.

She worked with all kinds of people, from drug addicts and the homeless, to those that were in old age including the young.

She gave birth to two sons, William Arthur Philip Louis, and two years later to Henry Charles Albert David. She was fond of her sons and was seen as a symbolic mother figure to those who witnessed and read about her love and attachment to her sons.

She made sure to take them on outings, and even dropped them off to school every chance she had. Making time for them was top priority, where she also planned her public duties around their schedule.

She was facing immense problems within her marriage, where she often suspected her husband, the Prince of Wales for seeing other women. Each of the two blamed each other for the instability of their marriage, causing it fail. Her first affair was with Major James Hewitt, while Prince Charles returned to an old girlfriend whom he later married, Camilla Shand.

She was romantically linked to Hasnat Khan from Pakistan, who ended their courtship because of building pressure from his family about marrying within their Muslim clan kind. She then started a relationship after a month following the split with Hasnat, to Dodi Fayed son of Mohammed Al-Fayed.

Princess Diana died on 31^st August 1997, in a fatal car crash that led to her demise at 4 am while in the hospital, after being taken there at 1 am shortly after the accident.

There are speculations made that the car crash was planned and intended as a way to rid the Princess and her partner. Those put to blame were Prince Charles, The Duke of Edinburgh and MI6. Witnesses reported seeing foul play once the accident occurred, where the French investigating, waved off allegations made.

The car crash took place in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel where only Rees-Jones (Princess Diana's bodyguard) survived, although sustaining facial injuries post the incident. Those that didn't make it, were Princess Diana herself, her driver Henri Paul and partner Dodi Fayed.

Following her death, those that loved her left flowers and other items of tribute in front of Kensington Palace. The memorials made in honor of the late Princess were:

• The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Gardens in Regent Centre Gardens Kirkintilloch.

• The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Walk, made between Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Green Park and St. James Park in London.
• The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park, London.
• The Place de l'Alma is the unofficial memorial of Princess Diana with several other memorials erected and on display in her name and that of Dodi Fayed's.

As part of her legacy, fashion designers David and Elizabeth Emanuel announced in 2010, that they would auction 30 pieces of her measurements, clothing and other things of the late Princess, in honor of her sense of fashion and timeless style.

Princess Diana was quite a woman of the nineties, where the tragedy that befell her was one that was mourned the world over. She will always be respected, remembered and loved by those who knew of her kind, humble, and generous nature.
